Website Design FAQ’s
Thinking about getting a new website for your business? Whether you’re looking for affordable website design in Cornwall, a bespoke WordPress website or an online shop, here are the answers to some of the questions I get asked most often.
Website design doesn’t have to cost the earth! At Outpost Social Co, I offer affordable, creative website design for small businesses in Cornwall and beyond.
My one-page websites start from £350, making them ideal for freelancers, sole traders and small businesses looking for a professional online presence without a huge price tag.
Need a little more room to grow? My bespoke multi-page WordPress websites start from £600, while e-commerce websites for businesses looking to sell online start from £1,800.
Every website is designed around your business, your goals and your customers, rather than relying on a generic, one-size-fits-all design.
I’ll always provide a clear quote before we get started, so you know exactly what’s included. Hosting, domain registration and any additional third-party costs will be explained separately.
That depends on the size and complexity of your website, but as a general guide, a simple one-page website can take around 1–2 weeks, while a bespoke multi-page WordPress website may take approximately 3–6 weeks.
Larger websites and e-commerce projects can take longer, particularly if they involve online shops, booking systems or additional functionality.
The timeline also depends on how quickly I receive your content, images and feedback. I’ll give you an estimated timescale before we begin and keep you updated throughout the design process.
My aim is always to create a website that’s worth the wait, without dragging the process out unnecessarily!
Ideally, yes, but don’t panic if you’re staring at a blank page wondering what on earth to write!
I’ll guide you through the content I need, from information about your business and services to photographs, testimonials and contact details.
As someone with a background in marketing and content creation, I can also help you structure your website content so it’s clear, engaging and written with your customers in mind. If you need help with website copywriting, photography or sourcing suitable imagery, we can discuss that too.
And if you already have an existing website, we may be able to reuse and improve some of your current content. The important thing is that your website sounds like you, not a generic business brochure.
Yes, every website needs a domain name and hosting, but don’t worry if you’re not sure what either of those things means!
Your domain name is your website address (for example, yourbusiness.co.uk), while website hosting is the service that stores your website and makes it accessible online.
I build WordPress websites and can guide you through choosing suitable hosting and registering a domain name. I generally recommend Krystal, a UK-based hosting provider, although we’ll look at what’s appropriate for your website.
Already have a domain or hosting with another company? That’s absolutely fine. We can look at what you already have and whether anything needs to change.
Domain registration and website hosting are ongoing costs, separate from the initial website design fee. I’ll explain these before we get started so there are no surprises.
Absolutely! One of the reasons I love building websites with WordPress is that you’re not dependent on your website designer every time you want to change a sentence or update a photo.
Once your website is live, you’ll have access to your WordPress dashboard, where you can make changes to things like text, images and other content.
I’ll help you understand the basics so you feel confident making simple updates yourself.
Of course, if you’d rather leave the technical bits to someone else, I’m happy to discuss ongoing website updates and support.
Your website belongs to your business, and I want you to feel in control of it.
Launch day isn’t the end of the story! Before your new website goes live, I’ll check the important details, including mobile responsiveness, navigation, links and basic functionality.
Once it’s launched, I’ll make sure you have the information you need to manage your website and understand how everything works.
I don’t believe in building a website and then disappearing off the face of the earth. I’m always happy to hear from past clients, whether you have a question, need a little advice or want to make further improvements.
WordPress websites do require ongoing maintenance, including software updates, backups and security checks. We can discuss the best way to manage these, along with any additional support you might need.
After all, your website should be something that grows with your business, not something you forget about the moment it goes live.
Social Media Management FAQ’s
Wondering whether hiring a social media manager is right for your business? From Instagram and Facebook management to content creation, pricing and contracts, here’s everything you need to know about working with Outpost Social Co.
I provide creative, strategy-led social media management for small businesses in Cornwall and beyond, helping you show up consistently without having to do it all yourself.
Social media management is about much more than posting a pretty picture and hoping for the best! At Outpost Social Co, I help small businesses build a consistent, engaging and recognisable presence online.
My social media management services include content planning, content creation, caption writing, scheduling, community engagement and performance reporting, depending on your chosen package.
I take the time to understand your business, your customers and what makes your brand different, then build a clear content direction around it.
Whether you’re a small business in Cornwall or further afield, my aim is to take the pressure of social media off your shoulders while creating content that actually feels like your business.
Not necessarily! It depends on your business, your location and the social media management package you choose. If you’ve already got a library of great photos and videos, brilliant! I can use those to create engaging Instagram and Facebook content.
If you’re based in Cornwall, I may also be able to visit your business to capture fresh photography and video content, depending on the scope of our agreement. I can also create branded graphics, educational carousels and other content that doesn’t always require new photography.
We’ll work out a content plan that suits your business, your budget and the resources available. And don’t worry, you won’t need to become a full-time content creator yourself just because you’ve hired a social media manager!
I primarily specialise in Instagram and Facebook management, helping businesses create a consistent and professional presence across both platforms.
From engaging Instagram Reels and carousels to Facebook posts and community engagement, I create content tailored to your business and the people you’re trying to reach.
I also offer Meta advertising services for businesses looking to reach new audiences through paid Facebook and Instagram campaigns.
Not sure which platform is right for your business? I’m happy to help you work that out.
You don’t need to be everywhere. You just need to show up in the places that make sense for your business.
Community engagement can be an important part of social media management, and it’s something I offer as part of selected packages. Depending on your agreement, this can include monitoring and responding to comments, interacting with relevant accounts and helping your business maintain an active presence online.
For direct messages involving bookings, orders, customer complaints or specialist enquiries, it’s often best for you or your team to respond directly, as you’ll have the information needed to help your customers.
We’ll agree on exactly what’s included before we start, so you know which parts of your social media I’m managing and which remain with you.
Because social media should be a conversation, not just a noticeboard!
Yes. My ongoing social media management packages have a minimum commitment of three months.
Why? Because building a strong social media presence takes time.
The first few weeks are about getting to know your business, developing a content direction and understanding what resonates with your audience.
Over the following months, we can start identifying patterns, refining the content and building consistency.
After the initial three-month period, the agreement continues on a rolling monthly basis, with one month’s notice required to end the service.
I want us both to have enough time to see what works, make improvements and build something worthwhile.
No overnight miracles or promises of thousands of followers. Just thoughtful, consistent social media marketing.
Social media management costs vary depending on how much support your business needs. At Outpost Social Co, my ongoing social media management packages start from £200 per month for a lighter-touch service, with more comprehensive management packages available from £350–£500 per month.
The price depends on factors such as posting frequency, content creation, community engagement and the level of ongoing support required.
Whether you need someone to take care of a couple of weekly posts or manage a more comprehensive Instagram and Facebook content strategy, we can discuss a package that makes sense for your business.
I’ll always explain what’s included before we begin, so there are no unexpected extras.
Social media isn’t an overnight success story, no matter what some marketing gurus might tell you! Some posts might perform brilliantly straight away, while others take time to gain traction. Building brand awareness, trust and a genuinely engaged audience is usually a longer-term process.
I monitor performance and use those insights to understand what your audience responds to, so we can keep refining your content. And remember, success isn’t always about follower numbers.
More website visits, enquiries, conversations, saves and shares can all be valuable signs that your social media is doing its job. My focus is on creating a consistent, recognisable online presence that supports your wider business goals, rather than chasing vanity metrics.

A deposit is normally required to secure your project, with the remaining balance paid according to the terms agreed in your proposal.

I believe in keeping things straightforward, so you’ll always know what you’re paying for and when payments are due. No mysterious charges or unpleasant surprises!
Absolutely, where it makes sense!
I’m based in West Cornwall, so if you’re a local business in Penzance, St Ives, Hayle, Truro or the surrounding areas, we can discuss meeting in person.
That said, you don’t need to arrange a meeting to work with me.
Most website design, branding and social media projects can be managed perfectly well through email, phone calls and online communication.
I find this keeps things flexible, efficient and easy to fit around running a business.
And if you’re further afield, that’s no problem either. We can still create something brilliant together without ever having to be in the same room.
That’s absolutely fine. In fact, it’s pretty common!
You might know your website needs improving but have no idea where to start. Perhaps your Instagram feels a bit all over the place, or you’ve got a brilliant business idea but haven’t figured out how you want it to look.~
You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly polished brief, a colour palette and a five-year marketing strategy. That’s part of what I’m here for!
With a background in marketing, social media and creative website design, I can help you work out what your business actually needs and where your time and budget will be best spent. We’ll start with a conversation about your business, your goals and what’s currently working (or not working!). Then we can figure out the best way forward together.
Yes! When you work with Outpost Social Co., you’re working directly with me.
I’m an independent website designer and social media manager based in Cornwall, so you won’t be passed between account managers, departments or people who’ve never heard of your business.
I’ll be your main point of contact from our first conversation through to the finished project.
I like getting to know the businesses I work with, understanding what makes them tick and creating something that genuinely reflects who they are.
Think of me as an extra pair of creative hands, a sounding board and your business’s biggest cheerleader, all rolled into one.
Easy! Just get in touch through my contact page and tell me a little about your business and what you’re looking for.
Whether you’re interested in a new WordPress website, social media management, branding or simply need some creative direction, I’d love to hear about it.
I’ll ask a few questions to understand your requirements, budget and timescale, then we can discuss the options available.
If we’re a good fit, I’ll put together a clear proposal or quote explaining what’s included and what happens next.
No complicated forms, no pushy sales calls and definitely no obligation to commit just because you’ve asked a question.
Sometimes all it takes is a quick hello to get the ball rolling!
Didn’t find what you were looking for?
I’m much better at answering questions than reading minds. Drop me a message and let’s have a chat.
